DVD+R DL (DL = Double Layer) is a new player entering the DVD field, expanding the family to six members in total: DVD+R DL, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW.
Only two or three years ago, no-one would have expected the storage capacity of 4.7GB standard DVD not to be sufficient – even within a consumer environment. But with video and high-resolution photography moving from analogue into digital, the number of applications demanding higher capacities has grown.
